Because we know (from repeated sad and bitter experiences)  that in all likelihood,  you will be wasting your time.  

If you have been wrongfully terminated, you MIGHT get some compensation, but the UN will still not give you your job back.  

In any event, regardless of what the UN Dispute tribunal may rule;  the people responsible for ruining your career will get to keep theirs and will doubtless go on to do the same to someone else in the future - so don't fool yourself into thinking that the Secretary-General gives a flaying damn about upholding the highest standards of conduct, professionalism and accountability... or anything like it ....

That is sad, tragic and unfortunate, but I can't afford a new Aston Martin Vantage either, and I don't get any sympathy for that, nor with the rental place let me borrow one ....unless I pay for it.  

Three reasons really:

1. because if you work in the UN system, and do your job well - you are at risk of  being pushed out of your post and seeing your career destroyed because someone senior to you simply wants your post for someone else.....     and that flies in the face of every advancement in labour law since we stopped using 5 year old children to sweep factory chimneys; 
2. because thousands of women and children, mainly in peacekeeping environments in the Third World, are raped or otherwise sexually abused every year, while the UN denies that the problem even exists, and when forced to act, proves incapable of delivering any form of "justice"; and  
3.  because the taxpayers of the UN member states (at least those that are net contributors to the UN) are getting ripped off  by having to PAY for this fiasco...... 

This is not a solo effort. Peter Gallo publishes a lot of material, but couldn't do it without the help of a number of people who ....."cannot be named for legal reasons".... which in this situation means their careers depend on never having to TRY to exercise the rights that staff members are supposed to have when the UN is going to great lengths to dismiss them......

If you are asking about a ceremony with robes, candles and solemn oaths involving a sacrificed chicken, burning a picture of Dag  Hammarskjöld and putting a ferret up your trouser leg;   ...No.

That said, if this coronavirus stuff goes on much longer, people are so bored that almost anything could happen.

Think about it; if you are still a UN staff member, you would be signing  your own death warrant......  and photos of you dressed like a prize  idiot and bowing down to another idiot calling himself the Supreme Grand Master Wizard would be sure to be leaked to Inner City Press.

No, not really.....  EXCEPT for the bit about this not all being the work of Pete Gallo alone.  There is only one of him and there are limits to how much trouble he can cause if nobody helps him.....  and he cannot take all the praise himself  without acknowledging the help of people who cannot be named - for pretty obvious .... legal reasons!
